While I agree that one can ' repair ' the credit yourself, experience shows that many of those who seek either:
1) improve their score only temporarily;
2) actually worsen their situation by lowering their score; or
3) are only able to increase their score a few points.
The reason that this method is only effective until a point is that credit repair is in itself is less effective way to increase your credit score and keep it up for life. In fact, there are many techniques known to reputable credit coaches that are significantly higher for improving your score legally and permanently. The keyword here is ' respectable ', meaning a counselor/coach who can provide real references, which maintains a high credit score yourself (verifiable), and that charging rates very affordable.
Simply go online and ' challenge ' of all negative items on your credit report, no matter how well you do it, do not deal with or use any of the positive elements in the file, nor does it take into consideration the habits or circumstances that have led first negative elements. Most people with serious credit problems fall into one or two of these categories:
1) suffered a crisis in which have been the victim of some unfortunate circumstance;
2) are living a lifestyle of financial irresponsibility, or
3) are totally ignorant about the rules necessary to achieve and maintain a high credit score.
The first consists of circumstances independent of their will; the second is the fault of the individual and the bad habits that have developed over the years (as impulse spending and mismanagement of credit cards), and the third is the fault of our educational system and the credit industry billions of dollars.
Knowing exactly what you're doing it wrong every month that is keeping your score down and then changing habits have changed over the years, what is your score up and makes up continuously month after month.
Those who criticise your own credit, or using a credit repair service, have a tendency to be very defensive when representing their situation (late payment, collection, etc.) to the credit Bureau. Employees who work at the Bureau can see through the ' slap-it-against-the-wall-and-see-what-sticks ' dispute that goes on.
After all, if you have 6 order payment on your credit report, from 6 different credit accounts, and you (or your credit repair Agency) denies all by stating, "I am mine" or "this account never was late", don't you think that was a little fishy? What are the chances that late 6 accounts on the credit report of a person would all be wrong? It is much more likely that this person is financially irresponsible or simply doesn't have a clue how much pay these late are harming them and evaluation of long-term costs?
It is essential when taking the contestation of the claim (or hiring a company) that you are honest about the negative issues on your credit report. Not only is it illegal to lie about them, but it is immoral and unethical, and if this is the kind of person you are, or the company you're dealing with, then it will surely end up in a short time right back where you started, or even worse off. So, even if you get 2 or 3 of 6 elements removed, and your score increases of about 30-50 points, how is that going to help you avoid falling right back into the trap by a few months from now?
In our activity, we see people in this situation, all the time. You've done to themselves, or hired a professional credit repair, and a few months later are right back with the same problems. Now they realize that they need help from someone who really knows and understand the operation of the credit scoring system and someone who can teach you not only what they're doing wrong, but how to optimize that have good credit, to earn valuable points scores, and how obscure the negative with positive new credit to make them permanently on track for success.
Right click, no 800 word article could begin to teach what it takes to produce, improve and maintain a good credit rating, so we come to a point, if you're serious about changing your life and get out of credit forever trap, where you need to change tactics. Find a reputable credit counselor or coach who can work with you, one-on-one, and that is more interested in educating you for the life of ' credit repair ' simply for a quick buck.
